RODDING
Many of these stones while being very hard are also very brittle. In the rodding process, fabricators cut a channel into the back of the stone and glue in a rod. This does not make the stone stronger but it does hold the broken pieces together so the countertop
is easier to repair. Most fabricators use steel bars 1/8”x1/4”or berglass rectangular rod.
After placing the rod into the channel, apply glue to secure it permanently to the countertop. The Spider rodding blades are 4” diameter by 1⁄4”. The reason for the small size is to help prevent cutting all the way through the stone and ruining the top.
Once the rodding line is cut into the material, be sure to use our Zak Fiberglass Rod to ensure a strong material that will last a lifetime.
